Police looking for men who attacked a Canton mother

CANTON, Ga. - A Canton woman is in the hospital after her friends say she was attacked by a group of men. Police confirm there was a knife fight at the Alexander Ridge Apartments Wednesday night.

Alesia Kilgore says her friend, Jessica Shaw, was outside her apartment when she was attacked. Now she is in the hospital.

“She has a fractured skull, a laceration to her neck, a broken jaw,” says Kilgore.

Canton Police say they got the call of “a knife fight in progress” just after 10:30 p.m.

“Usually if there's a fight in progress we try to get as many officers out there. Cherokee County helped out with their K-9 to track a suspect, but their track was unsuccessful,” says Canton Police Cpl. Mary Turner.

Investigators are trying to figure out exactly how many people were involved, who had the knife, and who instigated the fight.

Kilgore says those details can be worked out later, right now she wants police to find the young men who put her friend in the hospital before they hurt someone else.

“If they hurt her they'll hurt someone else,” says Kilgore.
