Kroger rolls out 'Scan, Bag, Go' checkout in Johns Creek

JOHNS CREEK, Ga. - Kroger will offer customers a way to avoid checkout lines.

The grocer unveiled the "Scan, Bag, Go" technology at the Johns Creek Kroger on State Bridge Road Tuesday.

Customers scan items as they shop using a wireless scanner or a smartphone app.

They then can either go to the self-checkout to pay or make their purchase with their mobile device.

Kroger has had the technology in place for about eight years in some northern stores and the company has revised and perfected it as customers there have used it.

The grocer plans to roll out the technology to more stores this year.
