Road rage incident reportedly leads to I-85 fatal shooting

A driver suspected of being involved in a road-rage incident was shot by Banks County Sheriff's Office deputies after reportedly opening fire during a chase. Annie Mapp reporting.
BANKS COUNTY, Ga. - A man is dead following a shooting involving the Banks County Sheriff’s Office on Interstate 85 Wednesday morning.
What we know:
According to the sheriff’s office, the incident began after a BOLO (Be On the Lookout) was issued out of Jackson County in connection with a road rage incident.
Deputies located the suspect’s vehicle near the 150-mile marker around 4:20 a.m. and attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver allegedly refused to pull over, leading officers on a pursuit.
Authorities say deputies performed a PIT maneuver to stop the vehicle. After the vehicle came to a halt, the suspect reportedly began firing at deputies. Deputies returned fire, striking the suspect.
The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. No deputies were injured.

The man has not been identified at this time. Additionally, no details were released about the road rage incident.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has been called in to investigate, which is standard procedure in officer-involved shootings.
