Honda is recalling over 259,000 vehicles because of a problem that can cause the brake pedal to move out of position, possibly interfering with a driver’s ability to stop or slow down in the car.

National Highway Traffic Safety Administration officials explained in their recall report notes that the brake pedal pivot pin in some of these cars was not secured properly while they were built. This issue can lead the pedal to shift out of place and "may lead to unintended application" increasing crash risks, per the report.

What they're saying:

America Honda issued a statement to the Associated Press on Wednesday regarding the brake pedal issue writing, "The issue could also cause an abnormal brake pedal feeling during operation, illuminate the brake malfunction light in the instrument cluster, or cause the vehicle’s brake lights to remain lit even when the brake pedal is not applied."

In April 2024, Honda launched an investigation into the defective brake pedal, after the automaker received a report of a car experiencing the issue. Honda later found out that improper assembly of the brake pedal pivot pin happened at a supplier's U.S. plant, which was closed.
