Fulton County gears up for 2020 Census

FULTON COUNTY, Ga. (FOX 5 Atlanta) - Fulton County is gearing up for the 2020 Census.

The county government hosted a Census kick-off session at the government center Thursday.

Citizens, community groups, and non-profit organizations were invited to attend, and encouraged to get the word out about participation.

Federal funds are granted based on how many people are counted and the types of people there are.

That's why, officials say, it's critical that every person participates.

Georgia's representation in the federal government could also change through the Census.

Back in 2010, the area gained a seat in the House of Representatives based on the Census count.
