Flash Flood Watch until 8PM Wednesday

ATLANTA - Our unsettled weather pattern is only turning wetter as tropical moisture from Tropical Storm Cindy in the Gulf of Mexico spreads across the southeastern United States.

A Flash Flood Watch has been extended until  8 p.m. Wednesday 

The combination of a stalled out cold front over Georgia plus tropical moisture led to remarkable rainfall totals for parts of the metro area yesterday and flash flooding.

Wednesday, steady rain will advance in from the southwest. This will lead to more widespead, steady rainfall near and south of I-20. North of I-20, the rain will be more scattered in nature.

Showers will diminish some Wednesday night. It will remain cloudy and humid.  

Scattered tropical rain will begin to ramp up again during the day tomorrow.

All of this tropical moisture is connected to Tropical Storm Cindy in the Gulf of Mexico.  As of 5 a.m. Wednesday, it was centered 225 miles offshore of Galveston, Texas and on a path to move onshore early Thursday morning along the Gulf Coast between Louisiana and Texas.

Despite the center of circulation coming onshore so far west of our area, most of the rain is happening on the east side of the center.  And the plume of tropical moisture will continue to be a factor in rainfall across the southeast for a few days.
