EXCEL Academy locked down due to gun scare

MCDONOUGH, Ga (FOX 5 Atlanta) - A Henry County High School was placed on lockdown Wednesday when the sheriff’s office was alerted a student had a gun.

A student at a different school showed Henry County Sheriff’s Office a photo of a student at EXCEL Academy with a weapon. Deputies said the school was on lockdown for 20 minutes as they searched for the student.

Deputies said the student was found in a classroom while K-9 units found the gun in a cabinet.

Henry County Sheriffs' Office said charges are pending against at least one student.
