Couple escapes Kennesaw house fire
KENNESAW, Ga. - Smoke detectors are being credited with waking a Kennesaw couple early Wednesday, as fire tore through their home on Kirkwood Drive.
Neighbors called for help around 2:30 a.m., telling fire officials the man and woman inside managed to make it to safety.
Cobb County fire crews blasted the two-story home with water. A portion of the house collapsed during their effort.
No one was hurt, but the close call has left the homeowners in shock.
"They are devastated. hey've been living here for a considerable amount of time. They pretty much lost everything," said Cobb Fire Battalion Chief Sean Boggess.
Investigators are expected to arrived once the sun comes up to determine a cause.
