A trespassing charge led to an intense search inside a Hapeville home. Investigators say they're concerned about bomb making materials in a teenager's bedroom.

This all started in South Atlanta late Wednesday. An 18-year-old, identified as Alexander Mason, trespassed in an old abandoned warehouse, according to police. He was allegedly after mercury switches from residential type thermostats. That led officers to the teen's Hapeville home.

Police arrested him for trespassing and stealing those mercury switches. Investigators worked into the morning, searching the Rainey Avenue house, and found some chemicals.

The teen's father tells FOX5 his son has been interested in chemistry all of his life - that he was salvaging those switches for his experiments. And insisted he's not building bombs.
