CDC pauses testing for multiple infectious diseases
ATLANTA - The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has temporarily paused diagnostic testing for rabies, monkeypox and several other infectious diseases, according to American Hospital Association.
What they're saying:
Officials said more than two dozen types of testing are currently unavailable due to what was described as a routine review. The Department of Health said it hopes to resume testing in the coming weeks.
The pause comes as the agency has lost between 20% and 25% of its workforce over the past year due to layoffs, retirements and other staffing changes.
