CDC pauses testing for multiple infectious diseases

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has temporarily paused diagnostic testing for rabies, monkeypox and several other infectious diseases, according to American Hospital Association.

What they're saying:

Officials said more than two dozen types of testing are currently unavailable due to what was described as a routine review. The Department of Health said it hopes to resume testing in the coming weeks.

The pause comes as the agency has lost between 20% and 25% of its workforce over the past year due to layoffs, retirements and other staffing changes.
