Tsunami Warning after massive Alaskan earthquake
On Wednesday, residents along a 700-mile expanse of Alaska's southern coast were instructed to move to higher ground following a strong earthquake that triggered a tsunami warning. The earthquake, measuring 7.3 in magnitude, occurred at 12:37 p.m. local time, just south of Sand Point, a community of approximately 580 residents located on Popof Island in the Aleutian chain, as reported by the Alaska Earthquake Center. Although the initial waves were expected to reach Sand Point, the state's emergency management division announced an hour after the quake that no damage reports had been received.
