Westminster Tops Blessed Trinity 38-31 in OT for AAA title

Westminster tailback Isaiah Malcolme scored on a 3-yard run in overtime and the Wildcats came up with a fumble recovery on defense as they stunned No. 2 Blessed Trinity 38-31 in the Georgia High School Association's Class AAA championship game at the Georgia Dome.

Westminster twice trailed by 14 points in the second half. The Wildcats tied the game after Watson Jackson recovered an onside kick and Malcolme ran for a 21-yard touchdown on the next play to even the score at 31-31.

Westminster scored on its third play of overtime, with Malcolme squeezing in from the 3. The junior finished with 125 yards on 21 carries and two touchdowns.

The Wildcats won the game when Joe Egan recovered a fumble by Blessed Trinity's Milton Shelton in the end zone to end the game. Shelton rushed 37 times for 254 yards.

Westminster (11-4) won its first state championship since 1978. Blessed Trinity finished 13-1-1.
