University of Alabama restricts most bags at football games

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) — The University of Alabama has banned purses and diaper bags, among other items, for all football games at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

According to The Decatur Daily, beginning in the fall, prohibited items will also include bags or containers larger than a small clutch purse, coolers, briefcases, backpacks, fanny packs, luggage, computer bags, camera bags, binocular cases and seat cushions with pocket zippers or compartments.

The university will allow bags or purses that are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC. They cannot exceed 12 inches x 6 inches x 12 inches. Small, one-compartment, clutch purses that do not exceed 4½ inches by 6½ inches will be permitted. All bags will be subject to inspection at the gate and may be inspected again inside the stadium.

Exceptions will be made for medical items.
