Rome Wolves honored at Georgia Capitol
ATLANTA - The Rome Wolves got a special honor Thursday. The team was invited the Georgia Capitol to be honored in the House Chamber.
State Representative Katie Dempsey (R-Rome) wanted to honor the 5A State Champions. The Wolves beat the previously undefeated Warner Robins High School Demons 38-0 to take the state title.
“It’s a privilege to honor the Rome Wolves in the House chamber for another glorious football season,” Rep. Dempsey was quoted as saying in a release. “For the second year in a row, the Wolves were the victors of the GHSA 5A State Football Championship. This team is the most special team in the state and in my heart, and I’m proud of all they’ve accomplished.”
The Wolves finished their season 15-0 and have a 27 game winning streak. The team also now holds the record for being the highest scoring team in their classification in Georgia’s history with 758 points in a single season.
Rome is also ranked number 1 is all classifications.
