Zoo Atlanta delays opening on Monday because of cold temps
ATLANTA - Zoo Atlanta announced early Monday morning that it would delay its opening until noon due to "unseasonably cold temperatures."
The zoo has also announced its gates would be closed to visitors on Tuesday.

An Extreme Cold Warning is currently in effect for metro Atlanta and North Georgia. Overnight, temperatures dipped into the teens, with wind chills making it feel even colder.
While Monday is expected to be sunny, it will remain cold and windy, with highs near freezing.
The FOX 5 Storm Team has declared Tuesday a Storm Alert Day due to the threat of snow in metro Atlanta and North Georgia. Most of the snow is forecast to fall south of the city, but this could change depending on how far north the precipitation travels.

Snow accumulation is expected to range from none to a few inches, with higher totals south of I-20 and into middle Georgia. Snowfall is predicted to end early Wednesday morning.
The frigid weather has also affected events related to Martin Luther King Jr. Day in metro Atlanta. Gwinnett County has canceled its annual parade due to the extreme cold.
