Young Girls "Think Pink" with Touching Performance

JEFFERSON, Ga - A team of cheerleaders performed a special half-time dance at their football game in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

“I thought wouldn’t it be great for the girls to do something to spread awareness,” said cheer coach Teresa Wiley.

The East Jackson 9U Eagles cheerleading squad, from the Jackson County Recreation Department in Jefferson, Georgia, performed the emotional performance to “Fight Song” from singer Rachel Platten.

“One mom came up to me and gave me the song to choreograph the dance to,” said Wiley.

Wiley’s 10-year-old daughter, Ariana Tarpkins, choreographed the dance in less than one day.

“The girls were a little reluctant at first to learn a new dance, but some of the girls have been directly affected by breast cancer, so they knew how important it would be,” Wiley said. “The performance was so moving and touching that the other squad, along with the football coaches came over to congratulate us on a great job.”

The girls were asked to perform their dance at an upcoming cheerleading competition, in addition to their competition performance.
