Work begins to fix sinkhole in Conyers

CONYER, Ga. (FOX 5 Atlanta) - Work started this week on a huge sinkhole which opened up during severe storms and subsequent flooding last month in Conyers.

It happened along Rowland Road near Rockdale County High School and Rockdale Magnet School. The sinkhole opened up causing a major road collapse and forced the road to close between the two schools.

School traffic has been having to use Pine Log Road.

The city is advising residents to avoid the area until the project is complete.
