A carjacking victim says survival instincts took over when a man came up to her car door and put a gun in her face.

That is what Ashley Claassen faced Saturday evening in the Virginia-Highland neighborhood.

She took off running. He car keys in her jacket. The car began beeping because it is a push to start auto. The would-be thief took off after her. He gave her an order to "drop the keys".

Claassen quickly removed her jacket and threw it to the ground. She kept on running, not knowing whether the thief would leave her alone. He did at that point, picking up the keys and driving away.

She says police found the vehicle abandoned in a parking lot in Union City.
