A spokesman for UPS said the driver who was shot making deliveries in the City of South Fulton is recovering in an area hospital.

South Fulton Police have not released the name of the 26-year-old driver as of early Thursday evening.

"Our driver is recuperating at a local hospital and we want to thank first responders and neighbors for acting so quickly," Matthew O'Connor remarked when contacted Thursday.

"This type of shooting is rare. We talk to drivers every day in our Prework Communication Meetings about being aware of their surroundings," O'Conner remarked.

Several neighbors told FOX 5's Aungelique Proctor they turned their home surveillance video over to South Fulton Police.

Neighbors said the house where the shooting occurred is a rental situation and there was a drive-by shooting at the same address about a month ago.

"It was ‘Bang, bang, bang, bangs…’ lots of shots. It woke me up out of my sleep," homeowner Helen Braithwait recalled.

Police would not comment on whether the shooting was random or if the driver had a relationship of some kind with the shooting suspects.

No arrests have been made.
