Father kills daughter in murder-suicide in Cherokee County
The Cherokee County Sheriff's office said a father shot and killed his daughter before turning the gun on himself on March 19.
CANTON, Ga. - Cherokee County Sheriff's Office is investigating a murder-suicide after a father and daughter were found dead inside a home Saturday.
Deputies went to the 1000 block of Bridgemill Avenue in Canton around 5:45 p.m. and found two people shot inside.
The deceased were identified as 19-year-old Kathryn Newhouse and 57-year-old Howard Newhouse.
The father, Howard, shot his daughter Kathryn before turning the gun on himself, Cherokee County Sheriff Public Information Officer Jay Baker confirmed.
The mother was inside the house at the time of the shooting, but officials said she was not injured.

Officials are not searching for additional suspects.
An investigation is underway.
