Three Teens Turn Themselves in For Violent Sumter Street Robbery

ATLANTA - Police said three teenagers wanted by police turned themselves into officers early this evening, in an Atlanta home invasion where a father was shot twice, and his wife had to run from bullets while holding their infant daughter.

Tuesday afternoon, the three juveniles were indicted in the case. Arrest warrants were taken out for 15-year-old Trequan Sutton, 15-year-old Quindarius Slade, and 14-year-old Veshawn Smith. All teens will be charged as adults.

The mother, Whitney Lash, released the following statement to FOX 5: "We are extremely relieved and are so thankful to the APD for not only saving Mike's life but also for the fantastic police work that helped catch these criminals in such a short time."

A Fulton County Grand Jury indicted four people Tuesday, in an Atlanta home invasion where a father was shot twice, and his wife had to run from bullets while holding their infant daughter.

Brandon Smith was arrested five days after the August 16 crime on Sumter Street. He was indicted on 13 charges including aggravated assault, armed robbery and first degree home invasion.

The first degree home invasion charge the suspects are accused of is a new law classification written into the books in 2014. It says if there's a conviction, the person charged will serve a minimum of 10 to 20 years in prison and could also face a life in prison term.

Three juveniles were also indicted on the same charges. Arrest warrants were taken out for 15-year-old Trequan Sutton, 15-year-old Quindarius Slade, and 14-year-old Veshawn Smith. All teens will be charged as adults.

According to the indictment, the teens stole the gun they used in the shooting from Felix Smith, the day before the home invasion.
