Roswell Police officer Lisa Holland said the crime of opportunity happened between Saturday and Sunday at East Roswell Park. Officers said the thief apparently noticed a Bible carrier on the seat of Elissa Koch’s van and smashed the van’s front passenger window to steal the Bible.

Koch said she had left it quite visible on the front seat in a Bible carrying case which looked like a purse. She said the long time Bible was extremely sentimental to her.

"My mom got me the carrying case it was in. And the notes, I have had it for 9 years. You read stuff and important things, so everything in there was important," Mrs. Koch said.

"This just shows us, nothing is sacred," Officer Holland said.

The Roswell Police Facebook page states, “Typically, thieves are looking for computers, tablets, phones, money, and other things of value.”

"We encourage everyone to take all valuables off their seats and put them in the truck whenever they will be away from their car," the officer warned.
