Protesters outside hearing for teen accused of wedding guest's death
ATLANTA - Outrage at the Fulton County Courthouse Friday morning as the teen accused in the deadly shooting of D.C. man outside a private Atlanta club was supposed to have a hearing.
A small group of residents gathered for the hearing of 17-year-old Jayden Myrick. The group said this is one more example of the kind of crime they're tired of seeing in their community.
Myrick’s hearing was rescheduled. He is accused of shooting Christian Broder during a robbery as he and three other people were leaving a wedding reception at Atlanta's Capital City Club on July 7. Police said the ambush robbery happened while the group was waiting for a ride-sharing service to pick them up.
Atlanta Police said the four were watched by two men in a white car. One of them got out and pulled a gun on the group. They all gave up their cell phones and other valuables, including wallets. The robber started walking back toward the getaway car, but Broder started to follow the gunman, who turned and fired a shot, hitting him, police said.

Atlanta Police said Myrick was the one holding the gun. He was charged with three counts of aggravated assault, one count of aggravated battery, and one count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He was later charged with murder following the Broder’s death two weeks after the shooting.
It was later learned Myrick was on probation for a violent crime he committed when he was 14. He was placed in a prison diversion program against the recommendations of the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office.
No word on when Myrick’s next court appearance is scheduled.
Broder, a general manager and part-owner of a Washington, D.C. events company, died July 20 from his injuries. He leaves behind a wife and a 9-month-old baby.
