Presidential Candidate Dr. Ben Carson Speaks at Cobb Energy Centre
COBB COUNTY, Ga. - Republican candidate Dr. Ben Carson brought his message to metro Atlanta Tuesday night, speaking of terrorists, political correctness and Muslim re-settlements away from American soil.
The retired neurosurgeon told the crowd at the Cobb Energy Centre he was no anxious to give away our values and principles for the sake of political correctness.
Dr. Carson also talked about media bashing's he's received. He said the country needs somebody who doesn't mind being a one term president who is willing to do what is necessary to turn the country around.
His no nonsense approach is part of the appeal for the Boren Family from Newnan. The family was represented by several generations, grandparents, parents, and children. Jay Boren said he likes all the Republican candidates but in his opinion Carson is the forefront candidate.
On “Gun Free Zones”, Mr. Carson raised the terrorist’s attacks on San Bernardino and Paris and despite heavy security presence wondered aloud if anyone in the crowd had a weapon. He said if people in the Centre were carrying guns it would be unlikely terrorists would be able to carry out a massacre like they did in Paris.
John Marxen from Morrow said he hadn't decided but had come to listen to Carson to make up his mind.
In his speech Carson never mentioned any opponents by name but did speak of Syrian refugees, advocating Muslim resettlement away from American soil with US safety first. He said that should be a responsibility that ranks higher on the list than the responsibility of humanitarian gestures towards people elsewhere.
He did not speak of Donald Trump’s proposal to ban Muslims from entering the United States but had previously condemned the comment.
Campaign members from Georgia told FOX 5 News Carson was next headed to Anne Arbor, Michigan.
