Police: Suspect steals stun gun from officer
COVINGTON, Ga. (FOX 5 Atlanta) - Covington Police released body camera video of what they described as a dangerous encounter where police said a suspect knocked over an officer's body camera and then stole his stun gun.
The incident happened Monday morning in a mobile home park off Turner Lake Road. Police said they were called to the area after someone reported people smoking drugs.
Body camera video shows officers confront suspect Christopher Ashby. Police said resisted arrest and would not allow himself to be handcuffed; after the officer deployed his stun gun and missed the suspect, the man proceeded to grab the stun gun, officers said.
After a two-minute struggle with the officer, police said Ashby was taken into custody by backup officers arriving on the scene. Friend Dustin Aldridge was arrested as well.
