Police activity on I-85 in North Druid Hills area

Police activity is blocking several lanes of Interstate 85 south in the North Druid Hills area. This is breaking news. 

BROOKHAVEN, Ga. - Police activity blocked several lanes on Interstate 85 South in Brookhaven early Friday morning.

The activity was near North Druid Hills Road. Four right lanes were blocked, including the exit ramp.

A FOX 5 Atlanta photojournalist observed a police bomb squad on the scene. 

Shortly before 6:25 a.m., FOX 5 Atlanta's photojournalist reported that police had cleared the scene and lanes were reopening.

DeKalb County police later told FOX 5 Atlanta that they responded to a report of a suspicious device located on the I-85 south exit ramp around 2:53 a.m. Their bomb unit was activated and responded to the scene. After they determined there was no threat, they reopened all lanes of traffic. The investigation is ongoing, according to the police department.
