Man shot to death in Sandy Springs apartment complex, police say

Sandy Springs police are searching for the person who shot and killed a man at an apartment complex on Roswell Road.

Just after midnight Monday, Sandy Springs police were called to the Pointe at Canyon Ridge. When they arrived, they found a man in his 20s dead with at least one gunshot wound.

Police Sgt. Matt McGinnis said he was in one of the units and the door was slightly open.

Officers said they're in the infant stages of this investigation, and not sure how to best categorize this call, but as of Monday evening, they consider it a domestic disturbance and were still working to contact the victim's family, so they didn't provide many details about him.

Authorities were adamant the community is safe.

They said the shooter is still out there and police don't have a suspect description in mind, but they hope tips from the public will help track down the person responsible.

"We know what we're looking for and we're working hard to get it," McGinnis said.

Neighbors who didn't want to be identified said they still feel uneasy.

Anyone who knows something about the case is asked to give Sandy Springs police a call. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
