Multiple crashes snarl traffic across metro Atlanta | What we know
2 pedestrian-involved crashes reported
Two crashes involving pedestrians were reported early Wednesday morning, causing lane closures and delays for metro Atlanta drivers.
ATLANTA - As of 6 a.m., traffic across metro Atlanta was heavily impacted following multiple crashes reported during the morning commute, including incidents on both Interstate 285 and Interstate 20.
In west Atlanta, an overturned vehicle on Interstate 285 southbound near Langford Parkway is blocking three right lanes. Drivers are using the left lanes to get by, but traffic is backing up near the Cascade Road area. Highway 29 is being suggested as an alternate route.
On the south side, a separate crash on Interstate 285 westbound at Clark Howell in Clayton County has all lanes blocked. Authorities report a person was involved in the crash, though the extent of injuries has not been confirmed. Traffic delays are quickly building, stretching back to Jonesboro Road. Drivers are advised to use Forest Parkway or Interstate 75 inside the perimeter as alternate routes.
Meanwhile, in Atlanta, a pedestrian-involved crash on Interstate 20 eastbound at the Downtown Connector is also causing major delays. Two right lanes remain blocked, and the exit ramp is closed. Officials expect the ramp to reopen around 6:30 a.m. Drivers can take Exit 56B to Windsor Street or Exit 56A to McDaniel Street as alternate routes.
Motorists are urged to use caution and expect significant delays across the area.
