Maryland police say father used 5-year-old daughter to steal package from porch

BEL AIR, Md. (FOX 5 DC) - The man police say directed his 5-year-old daughter to run across the lawn of a house in Harford County, Maryland and steal a package sitting on the doorstep has been arrested.
Officers say 46-year-old Gary Martin Smith faces several charges, including theft and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

The Harford County Sheriff's Office released video of the incident they say happened on November 30 at a home on Inez Court in Bel Air. In the video, the young girl can be seen running toward the front door of the home. At one point, she stops, turns back and motions toward the street before continuing to the door, picking up a box and running back toward the curb.
Investigators say Smith directed the girl to steal the package which contained a pair of boots.
