MARTA Employee Information Accidentally Released

Personal information of nearly 800 MARTA employees may have had their personal information compromised due to what officials are calling an “equipment malfunction.”

MARTA released a statement Wednesday which explains information, such as date of birth and Social Security numbers, may have been mailed to wrong addresses after a mail merge. The information was part of an insurance enrollment. Officials are calling it a “very limited breach.”

The incident happened at the beginning of June. MARTA has notified the employees and offered free credit monitoring for a year for those affected.

MARTA officials said they have provided additional training to the employees responsible and said no customers were impacted during the incident.
