Man sentenced to 12 years for robbing convenience store
MARIETTA, Ga. (AP) — Prosecutors say a suburban Atlanta man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for armed robbery of a convenience store.
Cobb County District Attorney Vic Reynolds says 28-year-old Johnathan Leonard Smith was convicted Thursday of armed robbery and hijacking a motor vehicle. Prosecutors say a masked man armed with a handgun robbed a gas station and store.
Reynolds says Smith wore a hoodie approached the clerk and demanded money. The robber went to the wall of cigarettes and loaded items into a bag then ultimately fled.
Jurors saw security-camera footage of the crime.
A fingerprint was lifted by crime scene technicians from a cigarette box at the store. It matched the fingerprints of Smith's left hand.
