Man gunned down in his own apartment, Marietta Police searching for killer

A 23-year-old man was gunned down in his own apartment. Police are trying to figure out who killed Shawn Footman and why.

Footman shares an apartment with his brother, Chris Greene. Greene says he just left the apartment for about 30 minutes Friday morning when neighbors heard gunfire.

Police raced to the apartment and found Footman dead.

"It was pretty emotional, the police pretty much had everything shut down until the morning," said one neighbor.

"What we're really looking to do is find out what happened, what led to this and bring that person to justice," said Marietta Police Officer Chuck McPhilamy.

Chris Greene says his brother kept to himself and had no enemies.  Greene says skateboarding was his passion.

"All he did was skateboard all day, it was kind of therapeutic for him," said Greene.

Greene fears it was Footman's skateboarding that somehow may have connected him to the killer.

"My brother never bothered anybody, but he started to gain in popularity with his skateboarding because it's cool. Whoever did this, they were scared of my brother or jealous, because there's no other reason anyone would do this to my brother," said Greene.

Police aren't releasing many details.  They say this is an ongoing and active investigation. It is also a Crime Stoppers case.
