A used car dealership employee faces charges in Gwinnett County, accused of issuing fake temporary operating permits for cars.

Billy Allrich of Allrich Auto turned himself Friday.

Police say Allrich had issued several permits to the same vehicles, as well as issuing permits to friends of his to avoid paying ad valorem taxes.

Detectives say Allrich issued more than 500 permits over the course of a year, but only sold about 200 vehicles.

New or used car dealers cannot sell temporary tag permits to customers.

Only one permit is legally allowed to be issued per vehicle during the sale.

Police have now charged Allrich with several counts of computer forgery.
