Loretta Lynch, Stevie Wonder to participate in Spelman College commencement

Dignitaries and celebrities shared their wisdom with Spelman College graduates during a commencement ceremony in College Park Sunday.

U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch served as the commencement speaker. Music icon Stevie Wonder received an honorary degree from the institution.

Lynch was sworn in as the 83rd Attorney General for the United States in 2015, making her the first African-American woman to serve in the role. Lynch received degrees from Harvard College and Harvard Law School.

Wonder is widely considered one of the most celebrated and prominent figures in recent music history. He won 25 Grammy awards and has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame among other honors, according to Grammy.com. Known for his activism and philanthropy, Wonder has also been honored with the Presidential Medal of Freedom. The United Nations designated the singer as a Messenger of Peace as well.
