Gwinnett homeowner gets into shootout with three intruders

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. - Police are investigating a deadly shooting in Gwinnett County early Monday morning. 

It happened just before 3 a.m. at a house on Cainbridge Drive in Lawrenceville. 

A male homeowner told police he woke up in the middle of the night after hearing a backdoor crash in. The homeowner, who was armed, said when he went to investigate he found three men inside his home. That's when, according to police, gunfire was exchanged and the three suspects ran off. 

Not far from the scene, responding officers found a man who had been shot to death. On Tuesday morning, police said that they have identified the man as 20-year-old Jerrod Terrell. 

The homeowner was shot in the leg. He was taken to the hospital to be treated for his injuries. 

The two other suspects have not been identified at this time.
