GSP: Motorcyclist hurt in cruiser crash

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating a crash that involved a motorcycle and a cruiser from the Coweta County Sheriff's Office.

The crash happened Thursday just after 6 p.m. near Highway 34 and Providence Church Road.

Joseph Bridges Jr. says he and his father were riding bikes. The son says he was riding ahead of his father.

“When I turned, all I heard was my dad holler,” says Bridges Jr. “So, when he hollered I turned around and looked and I seen the Coweta County car is on his bike.”

The Bridges Family gave FOX 5 News two pictures. One shows the rear of a green motorcycle pinned beneath the front end of the cruiser. The other photo shows skid marks on the ground.

A report provided to the family by GSP investigators on the scene shows the agency is investigating this case.

Bridges Jr. says his father, who is being treated at Atlanta Medical Center, has been stabilized, but has some broken bones and will need surgery.

“If another car had been coming he would've been run over. I mean, just thank God another car wasn't coming at the time he got hit.”

FOX 5 News contacted the Coweta County Sheriff's Office. We were directed to GSP. We are still waiting to learn who was driving the cruiser, who was at fault, and what charges could be filed.
