A technical rescue unfolded high above the streets of Sarasota this morning after a construction worker became stuck on the side of a high-rise building.

Emergency crews say the worker was on a scaffolding platform when one of the cable motors malfunctioned. The motor on one end of the platform would not shut off, raising one end of the platform until it was nearly vertical and leaving the worker dangling 10 stories above Palm Avenue in downtown Sarasota.

An 18-story condo building is under construction there.

A rescue worker was lowered down to the platform attached the stranded worker to his safety harness, then the duo was slowly but safely lowered to the ground.

The worker was loaded into a waiting ambulance, though it was not clear if he had been injured.
