Construction crane curtails commuters in Buckhead

ATLANTA (FOX 5 Atlanta) - A contractor is in hot water with the state and was the ire of Buckhead commuters Tuesday evening all because of an unauthorized crane.

SKYFOX 5 flew over that crane along Peachtree Road at Pharr Road which was blocking on lane of travel. Atlanta Police said they cited the operator for not having permits to block the lane.

A spokesperson with the Georgia Department of Transportation said they are working with their legal team to determine how the development company, Rhode Island-based Gilbane Building Company, will be held responsible.

Authorities told the company, the crane needed to be removed immediately, but that it was broken and awaiting parts for repair. A stop work order was also given for all activities until the crane is removed which is expected to happen sometime overnight.
