Woman killed, teen injured in double stabbing

Violence has struck the motel once more, following the tragic shooting of an infant earlier this week. A double stabbing occurred early in the morning at the Budgetel Inn off Circle 75 Parkway, resulting in the death of one woman and leaving a 19-year-old with stab wounds. Authorities have arrested Frank Moore in connection with the fatal stabbing.

Cobb County police are investigating two violent incidents that unfolded in the same area where a baby was killed earlier this week.

Police say one woman is dead and another injured after a stabbing early Friday at a Cobb County motel.

What we know:

Officers responded just after midnight to the Budgetel Inn on Circle 75 Parkway, where they found two women suffering from stab wounds. Authorities identified the victims as 45-year-old Amatrian Hawkins of Atlanta and 19-year-old Janiyah Jenkins, also of Atlanta.

Both were transported to a local hospital. Jenkins, who sustained a serious cut to her hand, was treated and listed in stable condition. Hawkins died shortly after arriving.

Detectives with the Major Crimes Unit identified 46-year-old Frank Moore of Atlanta as the suspect. Police say Moore fled the scene but was later taken into custody by Atlanta police. He faces charges including felony murder, two counts of aggravated assault, and possession of a knife during the commission of a felony.

Investigators said Moore was known to the victims. The case remains under active investigation, and anyone with additional information is urged to contact detectives.

Investigators believe this was a domestic incident.

Nearby, a routine traffic stop on Cobb Parkway on Thursday turned deadly when a man took his own life. Georgia State Patrol troopers said they pulled over a black Honda Civic for a window tint violation just before noon Thursday. The driver initially stopped but sped off when the trooper approached. Officers later forced the car to stop, and investigators said the driver fatally shot himself. A passenger was not injured.

In the earlier motel case, Cobb police announced two additional arrests, bringing the total to three suspects in custody. Authorities say Jayvion Young and Camron Harris have been charged in connection to the shooting, joining 22-year-old Ladarrius Brown, who faces a murder charge. Police say the infant and the child’s mother were innocent bystanders, though a motive has not been released.

Dig deeper:

Despite the back-to-back violence, police emphasized that the Budgetel Inn does not meet the criteria of a nuisance property. Between September 2024 and September 2025, officers responded to 72 calls for service at the location. Ten of those calls were classified as crimes against a person, while the majority involved non-violent matters such as criminal trespass warnings, medical calls, suspicious activity, DFCS referrals, and loitering.

2 women stabbed at Budgetel Inn

Early Friday, two women were stabbed at the Budgetel Inn on Circle 75 Parkway, the same motel where a 9-month-old child was shot and killed days earlier.

"Based on call data, the Budgetel Inn does not meet the criteria of a nuisance property. Most calls are non-violent, and our officers continue to use proactive strategies and work closely with property management to address concerns before they escalate," police said in a statement.

Officials added that a meeting is planned between Cobb’s police chief, key leadership, and motel management to find solutions and strengthen safety measures. "These efforts are ongoing, effective, and reflect the department’s commitment to protecting all who live, work, and visit in Cobb County," the statement continued.

What we don't know:

Police have not released the names of the women who were stabbed or any information about the person taken into custody.
