California rolls out digital license plates

Your car could soon be sporting a new digital license plate and it's not cheap!

The DMV is teaming up with digital plates' maker 'Reviver Auto' to begin selling them at auto dealerships.

Sacramento launched the pilot program last week.

The plates will allow you to display custom messages, eliminate registration stickers and if your car is stolen the plate will display the message 'Stolen.'

But they don't come cheap...

The cost will set you back about $700, plus a monthly fee of seven dollars.

However, since the digital plates have built-in GPS there are privacy concerns.

Some question whether they will allow police to track a driver's every move.
