Atlanta woman makes homemade care packages for the homeless
ATLANTA - Atlanta resident Tori Allen wants to inspire the community to help those less fortunate.
“I wasn't going to share the photo on social, but I told one friend about it and it motivated him to help, so I figured maybe it'll inspire someone else,” said Allen. Allen has made several of these “food packs” that she keeps in her car to hand to people who are asking for money or when she sees a homeless person.
“It only cost a little more than $9 per bag, which is a small amount to feed someone for two days. Inside are cans of Chef Boyardee, peanut butter, tuna, crackers, Mentos, gum, Kool Aid, water flavor packets, granola bars and more, plus an extra bag of paper products and disposable utensils.”
Allen recommends getting canned goods that have “pop tops” for easy opening. “This is the most simple and awesome thing anyone could do for their fellow human beings in the community,” said Richard Morgan.
“People ask me all the time how they can give back and get involved...well it's something as inexpensive and easy as this.” Allen told FOX 5 social media producer Marnie Williams by introducing yourself, shaking hands and making conversation changes their attitude completely.
"I have learned personally interacting with people gives you so much joy. Everyone I've encountered have always been extremely gracious and polite"
