ATLANTA - Atlanta is bracing for freezing conditions and icy roads as temperatures drop and wintry weather continues to affect the region. Here’s a simplified breakdown of what you need to know:

Tonight:

Freezing Temperatures: After a brief period above freezing this afternoon, temperatures will fall below freezing tonight. Any melting that occurred today will refreeze, creating icy conditions on roads, sidewalks, and driveways.
Freezing Rain: Northeast Georgia is expected to see more freezing rain this evening, increasing the risk of slick and icy travel conditions.

Saturday:

Daytime: Temperatures will rise slightly above freezing in the afternoon, allowing for minor melting.
Nighttime: As the sun sets, temperatures will drop again, refreezing any melted areas and continuing the black ice threat into Sunday morning.
