Atlanta Valet Workers Robbed For Cars, Cash
ATLANTA - Atlanta Police are on the lookout for robbers who ambushed valet workers at two restaurants in one week.
Police cannot say if the crimes, within a mile of each other, are related, but call the incidents "crimes of opportunity."
Thursday night, police said three robbers ambushed a valet at Kevin Rathbun Steak on Krog Street in Northeast Atlanta. The individuals told the valet they had a gun, and forced open the valet box to steal several sets of keys.
The robbers took off with a Lexus LS460 and a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
Sunday, a mile away at the restaurant Agave, police said two robbers ambushed valet workers. Police said the robbers hit one worker with a gun and fled with their cash.
Management at the targeted restaurants said owners are working to inform other local restaurants of the crimes, and are creating ways to boost safety for workers and customers.
Local workers around Krog Street said nearby businesses are now on alert.
"We discussed it as an office," one woman said, who works in the area. "We're not going to go to the car by ourselves."
