Atlanta Halal Restaurant Burglarized, Vandalized
ATLANTA - Family helped a local business owner clean up the mess left Saturday morning from an overnight break-in.
Amari Gheddi said one of her employees went to open Baraka Sharwarma Meditettanean around 11:00 a.m. and discovered the glass door had been smashed in and the cash register stolen.
"I'm very sad, very sad," Gheddi said.
She has owned the Halal restaurant on Walton Street for five years and has never had a burglary.
Family members called it more than just a burglary. The criminals also ransacked the business and tipped over appliances.
"Why would a person who wants money just go all over and crash everything?" Asked Berhan Sadi, Gheddi's brother-in-law.
Gheddi said it will take time for her to buy a new cash register and get things back up to normal at the restaurant, but she is glad that no one was hurt.
"It's very sad, but still we thank God, you know, we are OK," she explained.
