Rising food costs

By the numbers:

Applebee’s All You Can Eat deal is available now for $15.99, up a dollar and more than 6% from last year.

Dig deeper:

The deal previously included boneless wings, and cost as low as $12.99 back in 2022, according to past press releases from the company.

Big picture view:

Chicken wings are among the food staples that have become increasingly expensive amid inflation and high demand. Earlier this year, around Super Bowl time, The Associated Press reported prices for wings were up by more than 7%.

Other rising food costs, such as eggs and beef, have caused several other restaurants to raise prices in recent months. Americans have had to pay more at the grocery store for their personal shopping as well.

What they're saying:

Applebee’s didn’t immediately say why the prices had risen, or why they switched from boneless wings to tenders. FOX Television Stations reached out for comment.

The other side:

Meal deals are popular with consumers amid tight budgets, and fast food chains and larger franchises are rolling out promos to entice customers.

Though one company’s deal - the "Ultimate Endless Shrimp" deal at Red Lobster - infamously may have backfired and pushed the company toward potential bankruptcy several years ago.

Other price increases

Meanwhile:

Outside of the food and restaurant world, prices are also increasing as companies anticipate offsetting President Trump’s tariff costs. Companies from Walmart to Nike are raising prices on their goods.
