25-year-old Dallas man accused of posing as teen faces new charge

DALLAS - A 25-year-old man who faked being a high school student is facing charges stemming from his alleged relationship with a 14-year-old girl.

Police say that Sidney Gilstrap-Portley was posing as a 17-year-old sophomore at Hillcrest High School when he dated a 14-year-old freshman girl. He was arrested last week and charged with Indecency with a Minor.

The victim’s mother told police that the two started talking through Snapchat. She knew him as Rashaun Richardson, a standout on the Hillcrest basketball team who had moved to Dallas following Hurricane Harvey. He was actually a 2011 graduate of North Mesquite High School who was looking for a second chance at a basketball career.

The victim told police that Gilstrap-Portley took her to a park over spring break and began to kiss and touch her. He wanted more, according to the affidavit, and asked the girl to have sex with him. She declined to do so.

She wasn’t the only woman in Gilstrap-Portley’s life. He has a live-in girlfriend who told detectives that the two have dated since junior high school and even have a baby together. Police say that she was present at some of his basketball games at Hillcrest.  

Gilstrap-Portley had been arrested in May and charged with tampering with school records. FOX4 learned that he had posed as a high school student at three separate schools during the 2017-2018 school year.

Police are talking to other Hillcrest students and haven’t ruled out the possibility that Gilstrap-Portley engaged in indecent activity with other girls.

He was released from Dallas County jail Friday after posting bond.
