Unique Georgia Camp Creates Memories, Changes Lives:
It's a place where kids can be kids, no matter what challenges they're facing. Camp Twin Lakes provides a unique getaway for Georgia youth dealing with disabilities, illnesses, and other special needs -- and it's a place where there's no limit on adventure.
Camp Twin Lakes was founded in the early 1990s, and hosts a series of camps at three locations -- Rutledge, Winder, and Warm Springs. Each location offers a variety of camp activities, and all of them are adaptable to campers with special needs. Those activities include archery, zip-lining, arts and crafts, and water sports. More than offering exciting adventures, staffers say the camp helps kids connect with others who are facing the same daily challenges, and helps them set and reach new goals. Camp Twin Lakes has served more than 100,000 campers since 1993.
Good Day Atlanta's Paul Milliken spent the morning at Camp Twin Lakes - Rutledge, which is hosting Camp Infinity (for youth and adults with developments challenges) this week.
