George winemaker celebrates 10 years of stomping, crushing, and drinking

CLEVELAND, Ga. (FOX 5 Atlanta) - There are a lot of great views up in the North Georgia mountains, but for our money, it doesn't get much better than the stunning landscape visible from the Yonah Mountain Vineyards tasting room. This Saturday, thousands of visitors will pack into the vineyards for a day of good music, good drinks, and one heck of a scenic backdrop.

The Yonah Mountain Vineyards 10th Annual Crush Fest will take place this Saturday, Aug. 24, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The annual event was created back in 2010 by owners Bon and Jane Miller as a way to draw new visitors to Georgia's wine country and showcase their own award-winning wines. 

Today, Crush Fest draws around 5,000 fans per year, and features live music, various food trucks, wine tastings, and — best of all — actual barefoot grape stomping.  

Admission to Crush Fest is $40 per person and includes wine tastings and a souvenir wine glass.  General admission without the wine tastings is $25, and children ages 16 and under get in for free.  Yonah Mountain Vineyards is located at 1717 Highway 255 South in Cleveland.  

It doesn't take much arm-twisting to get the Good Day feature team up to the North Georgia mountains, especially when wine and grape-stomping are involved. So they spent the morning at Yonah Mountain Vineyards, getting a preview of this year's Crush Fest.
