Burgers with Buck: Sidechick

DECATUR, Ga. - Who would go to a chicken place and order a burger?

#BurgersWithBuck, of course.

For a year, Sidechick in downtown Decatur has been serving delicious chicken sandwiches with clever names.  Let’s see, there’s the Side Chick, the Hot Chick, the ATL Chick, the Cuban Chick, the BBQ Betty . . . you get the idea.

Now before the politically correct police among us become offended, take a deep breath and realize that it’s not only all in good fun, but the idea came from owner Chris Sheehy’s wife. The joke is that, he spent so much time trying to get this restaurant up and going, it was like his other woman (AKA Side Chick).

So there’s only one burger on the menu, and it’s called the Side Burger (NOT A CHICK), and coincidentally it was, once again, Chris’ wife that suggested he add the burger to the menu, and for the #BWB salutes her.

The Side Burger (NOT A CHICK) starts with two, 4 oz. (80/20) Angus beef patties, scooped onto the grill and pressed because they believe that each burger patty should pick its own shape.  The burger is topped with Real American cheese (Colby Jack and sharp cheddar mixed with whole milk). Note, this is not those individually wrapped in plastic, processed slices, and take it from a man who has enjoyed his share of burgers, you can really taste the difference. The cheese is topped with their special homemade burger sauce. Add lettuce, tomato, onion, and house-made pickles, and you’ve got yourself a Side Burger that is definitely good enough to be your main squeeze.
