It’s one thing to read about the very first Christmas in the Bible, but it’s a whole other experience to see it happening right in front of your eyes.  And even though it can’t promise actual time-travel, a local church is taking guests back in time this weekend to witness the birth of Christ.

St. John United Methodist Church presents “Walk Through Bethlehem” on Saturday, December 8th and Sunday, December 9th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. each evening. The event is a live-action reenactment of the Biblical Christmas story, taking visitors into a busy Bethlehem marketplace (complete with Roman soldiers, angels, and real animals) and leading to a live nativity.

The church will also offer hot chocolate and cookies to guests, as well as providing music in the sanctuary and crafts for kids in the Fellowship Hall.  St. John United Methodist Church is located at 550 Mt. Paran Road in Atlanta, and there is no admission fee for the event or for parking.

Good Day Atlanta’s Paul Milliken spent the morning at St. John United Methodist Church, getting a behind-the-scenes look at how church members plan to transport visitors thousands of miles away — and thousands of years back in time— this weekend.
